Academic vs General Training IELTS
There are two versions of IELTS. Choosing the right one is critical as submitting the wrong test type will result in your visa application being rejected.

IELTS Test Centres in Nigeria
IELTS is administered in Nigeria by the British Council and IDP Education. Test dates are available almost every week in major cities.
Lagos
- British Council Lagos - Oshodi/Ikoyi offices. The largest centre with the most frequent test dates.
- IDP IELTS Lagos - Multiple partner venues across Lagos Island and Mainland.
- Computer-based testing available with results in 3-5 days.
Abuja
- British Council Abuja - Located in Wuse 2. Regular paper and computer-based test dates.
- IDP IELTS Abuja - Partner venues in the city centre.
Port Harcourt
- British Council Port Harcourt - Located in Old GRA. Fewer dates than Lagos/Abuja but still regular monthly sessions.
Other Locations
- Benin City, Enugu, Ibadan, and Kano also have periodic test dates through IDP partners.

How to Register for IELTS in Nigeria
Step 1Choose Your Test Type
Decide between Academic and General Training based on your immigration or study goals. For UK visas, you may need the IELTS for UKVI version.

Step 3Select Date and Centre
